Choosing your Seiko Mod: the SKL workshop guide
Four decisions, and your watch is found
Step 1
Style, first
Three silhouettes at SKL, three characters. The Fluted's fluted bezel plays the dress watch, the one you keep under your cuff. The Arabic Dial shows Eastern Arabic numerals on a coloured dial, Baby Blue or Ice Blue, for those who like their wrist to be noticed. The President adds the day spelled out in full and a bracelet with three domed links. Look at your wardrobe before looking at the watches: the right piece is the one you will wear five days out of seven.
Step 2
Size, without getting it wrong
36 mm or 39 mm, it all comes down to your wrist size. Measure it with a tape measure, flat, just past the bone. Under 17 cm, 36 mm sits just right. From 17.5 cm, 39 mm fills the wrist without overwhelming it. In between, choose by the look you prefer: discreet in 36, present in 39. Our women's models are 36 mm.
Step 3
The movement, beneath the dial
Automatic or meca-quartz, the call is yours. The Seiko NH35 calibre winds itself on the wrist: 24 jewels, 41 hours of power reserve, a sweeping seconds hand. It is the purists' choice, and that of most of our customers. The VK63 drives a precise chronograph, with a battery that lasts several years. If you want a chrono, take the VK63. Otherwise, the NH35.
Step 4
The bracelet and the finishing touch
The bracelet changes the watch as much as the dial does. Five-link Jubilee: supple, bright, elegant. Three-link Oyster: flatter, sportier, more understated. Both adjust link by link, and the tool comes in the box. Finish with an engraving on the case back if the watch is a gift: initials, a date, a few words. The preview appears as you type.
