SKL Royal Black Blue

The SKL Royal Black Blue is an octagonal Seiko Mod watch, completely blacked out, with one exception. Its checkered blue dial shines in the center of the dark PVD like a sapphire set in obsidian. The octagonal case, the eight screws, the integrated bracelet, and the butterfly clasp all share the same matte black finish. And the blue concentrates all available light. It is the most spectacular piece of the Black Edition: radical from afar, precious up close.

A sapphire in obsidian

The blue checkerboard shimmers all the more brightly as everything around it dims. The black PVD absorbs, the dial reflects, and the contrast works every second. Clear applied indices, luminescent hands, date at three o'clock. 41mm octagonal 316L steel case, anti-reflective sapphire crystal, transparent case back. The black screws on the black bezel are revealed upon closer inspection: the construction is there, in negative. The anti-reflective sapphire allows the blue to saturate without a veil: from the front, the dial appears to have no glass. The black all around accentuates the naked gem effect.

The NH35 in this Seiko Mod comes from Seiko Instruments' Japanese workshops. Automatic with 24 jewels, 21,600 vibrations per hour, 41 hours of power reserve. Winding by wear or by the crown, hacking seconds. Accuracy of -20 to +40 seconds per day, the caliber's standard.
